Our Origins

Established in Cape Town in 1999 by Tim Pienaar, GMS Systems emerged from its predecessor GM&S Systems, previously under the ownership of the late Eric Veldsman. Rapidly gaining renown for delivering high-quality warehouse solutions to clothing retailers and manufacturers, our initial focus centered on high-density yet accessible hanging storage, picking, and transportation solutions.

Over time, our offerings expanded to encompass a diverse range of shelving solutions and the introduction of goods lifts and overhead conveyor systems. Characterized by the distinctive round tubing G-Tech construction and a proactive problem-solving approach, we began exporting to the USA, UK, and the Middle East, owing to our unrivalled blend of manufacturing excellence, superior service, and meticulous attention to detail.

Evolution and Expansion

The year 2013 marked a pivotal shift as emerging e-Commerce enterprises sought GMS Systems for innovative storage and picking solutions. This collaboration signalled an evolution in our storage capabilities, leading to the development of a unique line of cost-effective, carton-based storage solutions. As demand surged and operations expanded, we broadened our range of systems and enhanced our manufacturing facilities.

Recognising the synergy between our hanging garment solutions and automotive industry conveyor systems, automotive manufacturers approached us in 2016 to devise cutting-edge solutions for storing and transporting vehicle parts during various stages of manufacturing and assembly.

Today, GMS Systems addresses the diverse challenges of Retailers, e-Retailers, 3PLs, Manufacturers, Automotive assemblers, and OEMs, fostering enduring client relationships and experiencing a burgeoning presence in international markets.
